Bad things kept happening 12/25/22

I’ve been told, by more than one person, to share our “series of unfortunate events”.  I didn’t want to, because I don’t want to sound like I’m complaining or using Taylors situation to make people feel sorry for us… but I feel like maybe I should, to say “look how God has taken care of us, despite allll these things going on!!” And say THANK YOU for those that have prayed and given and encouraged us! So here it goes, it’s long and it starts to get almost humorous because it’s SO MANY things.

It all started about 4 months ago.  Across our whole basement and through our garage a giant crack appeared (like broken cement, ran deep!!).  Right around that same time our washing machine, and dishwasher also quit (what should have been a simple installation of the dishwasher turned into a 3 day ordeal!!).  Then both suburbans decided to have twin problems and they both needed new brakes and fuel filters (randy fixed both things on both vehicles).  Not long after that the red suburbans engine completely blew and then at the same time something huge and expensive with the brake line broke.  It was going to be 1000s of dollars to fix so we said goodbye to “Big Red”.  A friend gave us a cute retro Astro Van, so we drove several hours out of state to get it.  We were mostly free of trials for a couple months when we all came down with Influenza A (except me!).  While the kids were still sick, Taylor had her bleeds and ended up in the hospital.  The other kids had to fend for themselves while still not feeling well because we were at the hospital with this terrifying thing with Taylor(thankful the are old enough to be at home alone, our oldest son is 19, as no one wanted what we had!).  When we got home from the hospital our house heater stopped working.  A friend of a friend came and fixed it for us.  Then Taylor had her bleeds again and our Astro van stopped working.  We took it to the shop and found out the transmission blew, amongst other things.  It would be 1000s to fix.  So we said goodbye to the Astro van.  Right at that same time our black suburban started making a weird noise and we took it in and it was something with the steering that needed fixed.  We needed a second vehicle (thankfully our son has a car, because we relied heavily on it) so we went and found one I LOVED that was a salvage and cheap (I take full responsibility for us buying this vehicle because randy had misgivings about it).  It made a similar noise as the black suburban and the guy selling the car, told us it was the same issue.  So we got it.  We took it to the shop the next day to “fix the steering problem” and the transmission is so bad it needs to be completely rebuilt 😩 it wasn’t the steering thing at all… so we have a “new” vehicle that is broken down.  Not long after that our youngest son, ran upstairs and said water was pouring from our garage ceiling.  We aren’t sure what is wrong, but the whole upstairs water can’t be used, because it makes water pour from the ceiling.  We just have one bathroom and it’s upstairs, so that’s been fun 😬.  We are on septic so we called someone to come out.  They were coming Thursday and a snow storm hit.  They called and said they can’t come until Tues (so we still can’t use our water, we have been taking a lot of trips to the gas station and showers at the YMCA).  That same day, randy called and said the black suburban started overheating on the way to work 😅 so he drove a work van home.  Thankful again that our son has a car!  We took it to the shop and it was something with the radiator and they were able to fix it before Christmas weekend (yay!!)!  Our sons car is now making weird sounds and randy thinks it’s the wheel bearings.  So that brings us to today, haha.  Wowza right?  Anyway, what could have been SO stressful isnt as stressful as it could be!  People have been so generous and all our needs have been taken care of.  I feel like Satan is trying to discourage us, but instead we are feeling so encouraged by how good people have been to us, without even knowing all the extra things going on!  We just want to say “thank you!” for your generosity and prayers and encouraging comments!  Merry Christmas!
